Week 53

April 3, 2017

A lot has happened this past week, but one that you all seem interested in how we listened to conference. We were able to watch and listen to General Conference in the Savanna-La-Mar meeting house. We took the Branch Clerk's computer and plugged it into a projector in the chapel. We then took a 200 foot long telephone line and moved the router into the chapel and plugged the computer into that. We watched in on LDS.org just like most people did.

As for what was said in General Conference. It was Awesome! I loved general conference. I would write more but I am out of time. I will write to you all next week. If you want me to answer any questions, just let me know.

Peace out,

---Elder Wood---

These are pictures I took last week and forgot about.

The first one is a picture of us driving through some bamboo ... trees? Anyways sorry it is a bit blurry, the rain was making it hard for the pictures.

One last picture of the view of the house in Port Antonio. No mountains is Sav.

The final one is the beginning of the trip of coming to Sav.

Week 52

March 27, 2017

Not really any pictures taken this week, Elder Shafer and I forgot to get a picture of the both of us.  For those that are unsure of what I am talking about.
I have been transferred to Sav (Savana-La-Mar) and am now serving with Elder Shafer.  It has been an awesome and busy week.  It is a branch here and it is also massive.  I hope to be able to help the Branch President in achieving the goals for the area.  I have met some really awesome people and am expecting a few baptisms in the coming weeks.
I love when the Lord directs his work because ita a lot less stressful than when you are trying to figure out how to do His work.  If you listen to the Holy Ghost and act on what He tells you.  You will be helped and comforted by our Heavenly Father.  I am out of time for this week, so we meet again next week.

Enjoy your week,
---Elder Wood---

Week 51

March 20, 2017

My Mailing address is still the same, it doesn't change even though I move around.  I will be changing though, I will be serving in Sav-La-Mar.  It is located on the opposite side of the island from Port Antonio.  This past week has been great though because of the members here.  What we missionaries call converts are those who have chosen to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  We have been working with many recent converts of helping their families to develop a closer relationship with Heavenly Father as well.  I know that going from Porty to Sav will be quite the change, but I know that I am now needed there.

I will talk to you all later,
---Elder Wood---

Found another beautiful view in Port Antonio before I head to Sav-La-Mar.  Pictures of a baptism that we had on Saturday, I actually found that we had 15 baptisms in the mission!!!

Week 50

March 13, 2017

It was an amazing week.  Over the past few weeks President Elder Rowley of Port Antonio Branch has been working with the Yallahs Branch President and the Ochos Rios Branch President and the Ocho Rios Branch President to have a Tri-Branch activity.  The other branches took buses loaded to the brim with people.  There was probably close to 200 members there.  It was awesome.  There was no arguing or anything, everyone had a great time.

This is the first time something like that has ever happened for them.  God's church is full of first times.  We are ALWAYS learning and becoming better people, if we want to be.  I know that the members here will remember that well, just like they remember when they first became members.  I hope and pray that you all have a fantastic week.  We will be getting transfer calls on Saturday, so I might not still be in Port Antonio next week, but we will see.

I will talk to you later,
---Elder Wood---

The first picture is Elder Rowley with the Branch President of Ochos Rios President Francis.  These are all different parts of a Tri-Branch activity that we did on Saturday.

Week 49

March 6, 2017

Hello everyone,

It's nice to talk to you all again.  I can't believe it's been a whole week already.  I am almost out of time so I will make it brief.

We have an awesome kid that we are teaching and we should be helping enter the waters of baptism.  I am also in a companionship with two other Elders.  They are Elder Rowley and Elder Rasmussen.  Elder Miller will be in the states for a little bit taking care of a family emergency.  Everything will be alright though.

I can't wait to write all of you guys again next week.

-- Elder Wood --

So first off, we went and found a small cruise shio in the marina.  Although it may be a small cruise ship, it is a BIG boat.  We also helped a member paint part of their ceiling, my comapnion (Elder Miller) was supposed to take pictures of us.  After 2 hours of painting we had to go and he forgot to take pictures.  I guess that's why I am never in pictures, because nobody else remembers to take them.  It was fun, and although I give him a hard time, I really enjoyed him.

Week 48

February 27, 2017

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that you are all doing fantastic, if you have looked at the pictures yet, you would have learned that our companionship had a baptism this past week.  His name is Nicholi Rampasard.  It was awesome.

We had zone conference this past week.  We learned much about how each of us can be better.  I look forward to sending you more baptismal pictures in the coming weeks.  I know that its possible here, the people are ready.  We just need to prepare ourselves to listen to the spirit.

I wish that we all were able to listen to every prompting of the Spirit, oh how much more we could accomplish if we just listened!

This was also my first full week as a 20 year old.  Man, I feel old.  I can't wait to talk to you all some more next week.

-- Elder Wood --

We had another baptism this week.  His name is Nicholi Rampasard, Elder Miller, my companion baptized him.  We did it a little bit away from the church so we had to hop onto cars and travel.  There were some who rode in the trunk.  Finally there is just a beautiful picture to end it off.

Week 47

February 20, 2017

Greetings from Port Antonio once again.

Its been a whole week and here I am once again to email all of you, except there is something different now.  I am no longer a teenager, look out.  I had my borthday earlier in the week and now I am 20 years old

I was able to have pizza recently, its been a long time since I have been able to have pizza.  I think I am gonna put Little Caesars to good use when I get home, but I also need to stay healthy so I am gonna have fun balancing the two.

Speaking of food, Elder Rowley floured me on my birthday, now I would send home a picture, but I don't have it with me right now.

As for the work, I love being out and sharing the wonderful message that has to be shared to us be God from a living prophet.  As people understand that is message beings peace into their life and unites their family together not only do they enjoy it, it becomes part of them.  It allows you to become a better person and understand what God wants you to be.

I will talk to you all later,

--  Elder Wood --

Some beautiful views of the local area and myself.
